This place is an incredible hole in the wall. The food is amazing, the service is phenomenal, the authentic on the floor seating is perfect for a night out. However, this is a hole in the wall and the building is very old. If you are not looking for fancy but want an authentic experience this is a fun place to try. We will be back. Thank you for a great dinner out.

Cozy and intimate dining experience that takes you back in time, making you feel like you're in the shōwa era of Japanese time. Food is delicious, well portioned and decently priced. They offer normal seating options and Japanese style seating with cushions on the ground.

Niki’s Tokyo Inn is not your typical restaurant, there’s really nothing else like it in San Antonio. Our first impression honestly wasn’t great. The place, both outside and inside, feels very old and worn down. Every step makes you feel like the floor might collapse. When we first walked in, we stood there for several minutes with no one greeting us. Eventually, a girl came over with a bad attitude, took us to a table, told us “that’s all she had,” dropped the menus, and walked away. A few minutes later, she came back assuming the car parked in the parking lot next door belonged to us and told us we were going to get a ticket not asking, but stating it as a fact. When we explained it wasn’t our car, she simply walked away with the same attitude. After that, our actual server arrived and she was lovely. If you’re looking for a quick meal and fast service, Niki’s Tokyo Inn is probably not the place for you. Time slows down inside, and you end up having a very unique experience. I do wish our welcome had been different because first impressions matter, and I hope that’s not how every customer is treated. Still, having the extra time gave us a chance to really look through the menu

I took Tokyo Inn dinner and its has variable dish with Yakizakana, sashimi, tempra, miso soup and rice. It is typical Japanese Teishoku style meal set. Each of them has variable kind of fish and vegetables. It was only 28 USD. Since we were group of Japanese we took zashiki style table and enjoyed whole food and atmosphere. We Japanese grantee this is real Japanese taste.

This is a great Great spot with authentic Japanese food. It's especially enjoyable when you can hear the calming Japanese music, or an occasional crunch from the seaweed wraps, over the chatter. I am very pleased with this restaurant and I think you will be too. They can be rude. The food is always good though.
